There is no universal number, and the advice reverses depending on your size. Small accounts get their best results posting 7 to 14 times a week. Medium accounts peak between 14 and 30. But above 100,000 followers the relationship inverts entirely: a large account posting less than once a week averages nearly six times more interactions per post than one posting daily.

Because the constraint changes. A small account is fighting to be seen at all, and every additional post is another chance at discovery with an audience that still has attention to give.
A large account has the opposite problem. Its audience is finite and already paying attention, so publishing more simply divides the same attention across more posts. Put plainly: below 10,000 followers you are buying chances, above 100,000 you are spending goodwill.
The platform average is 1.30 posts per week. Most brands are posting far less than they believe they are, and far less than the tier data suggests they should. If you are small and posting once a week, frequency is very likely your actual problem, not your creative.
Seven to fourteen posts a week sounds impossible until you separate creation from publishing. One recorded conversation produces a month of clips. One carousel becomes three individual posts and a Story sequence.
The founders who publish consistently are rarely creating more. They are cutting more from the same material, which is a production decision rather than a discipline problem.
