One Podcast Episode, 15 Pieces of Content: A Repurposing System

One Podcast Episode, 15 Pieces of Content: A Repurposing System

A single podcast episode of 45 to 60 minutes can realistically become around 15 pieces of content: six short vertical clips, two carousels, three quote graphics, a newsletter, a blog article, a LinkedIn text post and a behind the scenes story sequence. The condition is that you plan for it before you record, not after. An episode that was never designed to be cut up rarely gives you more than two usable clips.

Repurposing starts at the recording

Most companies treat repurposing as an editing job. In reality it is decided in the studio. Three things make the difference:

  • Video from the start. Record every episode with at least two camera angles, even if the main channel is audio. Without footage there are no clips, and clips carry most of the distribution.
  • Answers that stand alone. Brief your guest to answer questions in complete thoughts. An answer that starts with "as I said earlier" cannot be used as a clip.
  • Planned moments. Prepare two or three questions that are built to provoke a clear opinion or a concrete story. Those become your strongest clips.

The 15 pieces

  • 6 vertical clips of 30 to 90 seconds for Reels, YouTube Shorts and LinkedIn, each built around one statement.
  • 2 carousels: one summarising the key takeaways, one turning a framework or process from the episode into slides.
  • 3 quote graphics with the sharpest sentences from your guest, designed in your brand system, not as a template.
  • 1 newsletter that tells the story of the episode and links to it, written for people who will never listen to 60 minutes.
  • 1 blog article that answers the main question of the episode in text, with the episode embedded. This is the piece search engines and AI assistants can read.
  • 1 LinkedIn text post from the host's personal profile with a personal takeaway.
  • 1 story sequence with behind the scenes moments from the recording day.

The workflow in four steps

1. Mark the moments while recording

Someone in the room notes the time codes of strong answers. That saves hours of searching in the edit.

2. Transcribe and select

Create a transcript, then pick clips and quotes on paper first. Selection is an editorial decision, not a technical one.

3. Produce in one batch

Edit all clips, carousels and graphics for one episode in one go. Switching between episodes costs more time than the editing itself.

4. Publish over two weeks

Spread the pieces across the days until the next episode. Each piece points back to the full conversation, so the episode keeps finding listeners long after release.

What to avoid

Do not post the same clip on every platform with the same caption, and do not cut clips that only make sense with context. Every piece has to work for someone who has never heard of your podcast.
